TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

Please remember that each elected board member is required to complete a training class prior to the annual convention and that every board is required to have at least one member take PTA & the Law each year.

PTA & THE LAW
October 21, 2025 (6-9 pm)
This is the most important and useful class of them all, as it will prepare you and your fellow officers to run your PTA with an eye toward the important legal and fiscal requirements in running a nonprofit. PTA and the Law deals with state and federal rules and regulations relevant to running a charitable, tax-exempt, nonprofit corporation in the state of Washington and will explain how these rules impact your PTA. PTA and the Law is a required class for at least one PTA officer each year.
REFLECTIONS
October 28, 2025 (7-8 pm)
Learn all the basics for running your Reflections program, including how to submit your advancing entries to SVPTSA Council. This training is presented by the SVPTSA Council and will provide plenty of opportunities for Q&A.
MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL PTA ROUNDTABLE
October 28, 2025 (7-9 pm)
Join us for an informative and collaborative evening focused on all things Middle and High School PTA! Whether you’re navigating unfamiliar terms like Booster Club and ASB, looking for tips on running programs like Reflections and the Essay Contest, or trying to find ways to involve more students, this event is for you. (NOTE: This does not count as approved training.)
AIM INSURANCE ROUNDTABLE
November 13, 2025 (6:30-7:30 pm)
Join AIM as they talk about the different types of insurance coverage that is offered for your PTA. Have an opportunity to ask questions after about what might be the best type of insurance coverage for your PTA to sign up for. (NOTE: This does not count as approved training.)

NOMINATING COMMITTEE
December 2, 2025 (6-8 pm)
This presentation will help participants understand the importance of the nominating committee, how to elect them, and methods of organization so they have the tools to help them recruit the best qualified candidates for the positions.
